Ward Clerk - Iona Digby Harris Home

We are seeking a passionate individual to join our team in a part time capacity as the Ward Clerk in Iona Digby Harris Home.

West Wimmera Health Service provides high-quality hospital care, residential aged care, disability services and community health facilities to more than 22,000 people in the West Wimmera region.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • The Ward Clerk provides frontline reception across the aged care facility. The position performs a range of administrative support tasks to assist and ensure the efficient functioning of the Health Service.
  • The Ward Clerk is required to be discreet, work well under pressure and promote a professional and caring environment through excellent customer service, and have a good working relationship with the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing staff

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential:
  • Ability to prioritise and complete work within established deadlines, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a highly productive environment with time pressures whilst managing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with the public and to possess a high level of customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
  • Cert III in Business Administration or similar is desirable.
  • A sound knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Nursing background, but not essential.
Pre-requisites:
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working with Children Check
  • Vaccinated for COVID-19.
  • Influenza vaccination.
  • Australian Driver’s License.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Nurse Unit Manager to implement and maintain streamlined administration processes.
  • Assist with the support and orientation of new staff members.
  • Ensure all residents are correctly documented within their relevant software systems.
  • Manage enquiries from clients, families, and members of the community.
